Dormeuil, the French luxury fabric brand is known for its emphasis on sustainability, innovative fabrics, and exceptional quality is by far one of our esteemed fabric brands. It’s milled in both the UK and Italy but it still remains defined by its Parisian heritage. It’s an ethical cloth and one that carries precision across each step of production. The reputation they’ve built is one that has been the result of many years.
Dormeuil’s origins begin in the mid 19th century with Jules Dormeuil and his brothers, Alfred and Auguste. The trio formed a family crest and the company took its official name: Dormeuil Frères. They established the the headquartered office in Paris, France with fabric imported from UK mills.
From there, the brand took enormous strides in the global fashion industry. Before the turn of the 20th century, the brand opened its first shop in a notable tailoring district in London. To expand their market, they crossed international borders with its arrival to Africa and Asia, and then established its first office in the United States in New York City. In a succession of waves, it introduced a blend of significant fabric inventions.

The invention of certain suiting fabrics showcased Dormeuil’s ability to pair tradition with innovation. The heritage of luxury suiting improved with new developments in fabric technology and weaving processes. Additionally, they openly committed to values of sustainability across each stage of production. Dormeuil’s innovation paired with their values of ethical fashion ensured trust, consistency, and quality with each collection release.
It’s why you’ll find Dormeuil to be incredibly breathable and comfortable even while wearing a suit made of 100% wool. They have perfected every process.
These are a few examples of Dormeuil’s suiting fabrics that they’ve become known for and we earnestly share during each consultation.

Dormeuil is known for sustainability efforts that make the effort to truly ensure each stage of production is aligned with environmental concerns and animal rights.
Their launch of “Tonik Wool” for instance, was the first traceable cloth through blockchain technology. Their “ECHO” was also the second traceable cloth. Customers can see the entire supply chain simply by scanning a QR code displayed on these fabrics. (Within the suit.)
Additionally, Dormeuil commits to animal welfare and the respect of farmers. They refuse to work with any supply source or partner that does not adhere to these values. Going even further, they have developed strong ties with farmers and adhere to values of living and working conditions that include respect for their ancestral lifestyles.
As outlined in their sustainability document, their values include respect for the animals, reduce impact on the environment, respect humankind diversity, and promote quality & innovation. Each of which have specific tactics and strategies to achieve tangible results. Several of their leftover fabrics, for instance, are donated to fashion schools and associations for supporting employment.
